I have been intending to commence this blog for quite some time but for reasons that I’ll explain shortly I haven’t made it here until now. Since approximately mid-2007 I have authored a book and written countless blogs all addressing various aspects of the online music industry. I’ve always enjoyed writing and a few months ago a friend suggested that I write a blog that is outside of my ‘comfort zone.’ I’m not, by my own admission, the most motivated person on the planet but I was quite taken by this notion. I made the mistake of over-thinking it, then one day I thought that I should just sit down and write when my mindset is right and when time availed itself. Today is such a day.
I guess I should get the formalities out of the way first. I’ll be as brief as possible.
I was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland in 1967 and emigrated to Tasmania in 1979. I am a divorced father of two outstanding children with whom I have a very close relationship. I was a State Registered Nurse for 20 years, resigning in 2009 after being diagnosed with manic depression. I am a recovering alcoholic and am currently living in Stanley with them on Tasmanias’ far North-West Coast.
I have been living with my parents when I had one too many hospitalisations due to vodka abuse which then became life-threatening. My parents have their house up for sale with the intention of moving further east along the coast to be closer to their grandchildren.
Due to reasons that are purely financial, I will be living with my parents for a short time after they move up the coast. I shall reveal that in a later entry.
So….that’s me in a nutshell. Feel free to subscribe for updates (below) or join my conversations on Twitter or Facebook.
I do hope that you have enjoyed my first entry. I thought it wise to let you know who’s writing at you in order to gain a fuller experience of later blogs. Future entries will be more free-form and humorous.
